The conversation this month on what it takes for you to get started, be competitive, take initiative, travel the path that is unknown has been eye opening because you know what? None of us really know what we’re doing. We’ve trained in the field and/or in the classroom but a good portion of our day to day is listening to our intuition, setting clear goals and plans, and raising our hands to ask the questions that really aren’t that stupid.
We are the self starters of our own lives because we’re dedicated to our own success.
A friend sent me the final few stanzas of.a poem by William S. Merwin the other day. Here it goes:
I had hardly begun to read
I asked how can you ever be sure
that what you write is really
any good at all and he said you can’t
you can’t you can never be sure
you die without knowing
whether anything you wrote was any good
if you have to be sure don’t write
Whether you’re a writer, a nurse, an analyst – it’s hard to know if anything we’re doing is doing any good but do it anyway. Be fueled by passion and blind ambition. Put hurt and missteps of the past behind us and choose something else that is far more important than fear.
You will change in ways that you never knew possible because you have the courage to keep going.
When things go wrong as they sometimes will, when the road your trudging seems all uphill, when the funds are low and the debts are high, when you want to smile but you have to sigh, when life is pulling you down a bit, rest if you must, BUT DONT YOU QUIT!!!!
